A woman has revealed how she had to cover up her tattoo of an inspirational message – after realising it was rather sexual.
Maria Avery took to TikTok to share her mortifying experience, in response to a viral challenge for people to reveal their worst tattoos.
She explained that, when she was 18, she was trawling through Pinterest when she came across the inspirational quote of “keep going”.
“I thought it was such an inspirational quote, I should just get a tattoo of it,” Maria said.
But the problems started from where she decided to get the inking – on her hip rather close to her private parts.
Unsurprisingly, her family was horrified after thinking the message was sexual in nature.
“My family saw it and said ‘what the f*** is that? It looks so sexual, get it removed’,” she recalled.
Maria realised she had to fix the tat, but then ended up making it even worse.
A year later, I put ‘forward’ after it,” she said.
“‘Keep going forward’, it only gets dumber at this point.”
She eventually managed to cover it totally up by transforming it into a flower, before revealing how even the tattoo artist laughed at her fail.
“I did cover it up but this is literally the dumbest tattoo anyone’s ever gotten,” the hapless woman said.
“The tattoo guy literally said when putting the ‘forward’ on it, ‘I was hoping you didn’t want me to put ‘keep going harder’ on it’.
“This is it now, it’s covered up, it’s beautiful, but don’t get dumb tattoos anybody.
Maria’s video has been seen a whopping 400,000 times, attracting thousands of comments in the process.
“It’s not a bad tattoo, it’s just unfortunate placement haha,” one wrote.
Another commented: “I didn’t even think anything of it until you said it was inappropriate lmao.”
It is not the first time people have taken to TikTok to share their tattoo horror stories.
Last year, a woman was left mortified after realising a tattoo she got of her cat “looked like genitals”.
