Woman Gives Birth To Twins From 2 Different Dads, Her Husband & Her Lover

The truth might be strange, but it never remains hidden. Every action has a consequence, and the affair of one Chinese woman took a rather unexpected turn.

Namely, a Chinese newspaper, Strait Herald, reported the birth of twins who have two fathers, as a DNA test has shown. The story was revealed when the couple went to register the twin sons at the local police station.

Namely, the father, known by the pseudonym Xiaolong, was shocked when he saw that the twins were not identical, and one of the babies did not look like him at all.

The police demanded a DNA test, and his suspicions were confirmed. A director at the Fujian Zhengtai Forensic Identification Centre, Mr. Zhang, explained that the father was furious when he read the report.

The mother then accused him of falsifying the results, but she eventually confessed that she had a one-night stand. The couple resides in Xiamen city.

The newspaper reported that the husband was not willing to raise the baby that was not his own.

This might sound impossible at first, but there is actually a rare phenomenon, known as ‘heteropaternal superfecundation’, which occurs when a woman has sexual intercourse with two men a day before or after ovulation.

The woman must be pregnant when the second man impregnates her again. If she ovulates after she is already pregnant, another sperm can fertilize an egg.

In very rare cases, this might happen days after the first egg is fertilized, but the two babies then develop at different rates.

This phenomenon is more common in animals like cats, dogs, rodents, and cows, as they tend to have more sexual partners.

According to a 1993 study, at least one dizygotic (DZ) twin maternity in 12 is preceded by superfecundation, and the main factors include promiscuity and infidelity. The study also suggested that one pair of such twins in 400 born in the U.S. is paternal.

A 1992 study showed that an estimated 2.4% of paternity lawsuits are cases of heteropaternal superfecundation, and this number is believed to be much higher, as many cases are never discovered, and many people do not seek legal counsel.
