Quincie Pullen and her husband, Zach, drove two days from Florida to Maryland for a heartwarming surprise visit to her family’s home. Their goal? To fulfill a longtime dream of surprising her family with their infant daughter, Ella Capri, sitting on the front porch.
“I’ve always wanted to surprise my family with our baby sitting on the [front] porch, and we finally did it!” Pullen captioned her TikTok video, which has since garnered more than 14.6 million views.
In the viral clip, Zach can be seen placing baby Ella’s car seat on the porch and knocking on the door. Pullen’s father is the first to step outside, and his reaction is priceless. “Oh my gosh. Are you kidding me? What are you doing here?” he exclaims as he greets his granddaughter with joy.
Although Pullen’s parents had met baby Ella, born in January 2024, when she was first born, this surprise visit marked the first time her sister Lauren got to meet her niece. Lauren’s reaction was equally emotional, as she knelt down in disbelief, crying out with joy. The video ends with Lauren finally holding baby Ella for the first time.
Pullen shared with PEOPLE that her sister had been eagerly awaiting this moment: “She was so shocked when we showed up to the house. She was actually supposed to fly out later in the month to meet her, but we decided to surprise her instead!”
The trip from their home in St. Petersburg, Florida, to Maryland took two days, as the couple split up the journey to make it easier on Ella. “We planned this trip about a week before leaving,” Pullen explained. “We originally booked last-minute flights, but we were too excited, so we decided to just drive the 15 hours instead to get there a day earlier.”
The road trip surprise is a cherished tradition in Pullen’s family. “Growing up, we would always road trip to go surprise our families that lived in different states by showing up at their doorstep,” she said. “I always remember their [reactions] being so emotional and sweet.”
Now, as a new mom, Pullen continues this tradition with her own family. “I feel like it’s something that’s just built in me to want to surprise my family in my adulthood, and now, being a mom, this is definitely something I envisioned we would do one day.”
