A Russian teenager who achieved worldwide notoriety after falling pregnant at 13 says that seven months after giving birth she is struggling to rebuild her life.
Daria Sudnishnikova says that her school banned her from returning and her family life is complicated by abusive parents.
The teenager, from the town of Zheleznogorsk in Russia’s south-eastern region of Krasnoyarsk Krai, became famous after she became pregnant last year at the age of 13.
She initially claimed that her boyfriend, Sasha, who was aged 10 at the time, was the father.
However, after doctors pointed out that the ten-year-old was unlikely to have fathered her child, Daria changed her story.
She instead claimed that the real father was a 14-year old boy that raped her in a stairwell, who is now 16.
Daria has now shared with her social media followers about her issues at school, saying that she has not been allowed to return after giving birth, ruining her plans to finish school and get a good job.
The young mother uploaded a video update on Friday, March 12, saying that the school had refused to let her return to her studies because she had fallen too far behind as a result of the time she took off during her pregnancy.
She added that the school is concerned about the bad publicity that Daria’s presence might attract.
The young mum’s problems have not been limited to her school life, with significant issues arising at home.
According to local media reports, Daria’s stepdad is the only family member with an income, and is often violent when drunk.
Daria’s family constantly humiliated her as well, she says, often calling her fat as a result of the weight she put on during her pregnancy.
She says that during her pregnancy she gained about seven stone and felt very saddened by her thick thighs and chunky hands.
However, she has already successfully lost five stone with the help of a nutritionist and she says that now “looks exactly how she wants to”.
Daria has decided to help others with her successful weight loss, writing a guide for other young women who want to lose weight after pregnancy.
