I remember thinking back when Barack Obama was running for president why didn’t more people see how far left he was?
Some were taken by the same pitch that some bought with Joe Biden, oh, with Obama you’d get more “unity.” But it was clear that he would bring anything but and push us further left.
That was 2008. Imagine now how far left we’ve moved that now some on the left regard Obama as an “oppressor” and are objecting to naming a Chicago school after him.
The District 60 Board of Education was debating renaming Thomas Jefferson Middle School after Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.
Now we could start with how it’s problematic to be renaming the school named after one of our nation’s founders and presidents.
But the possibility that they might name it after Obama upset some activists and others.
“I will not be part of renaming a school after someone who did not and does not represent the undocumented community,” said District 60 school board member Edgar Castellanos, who says he came to the U.S. as an undocumented child, according to ABC 7 Chicago. [….]
“From the time Barack Obama became president until 2017 when he left, he today is still the highest-ranking president with deportations in our nation,” said Julie Contreras, who runs shelters for immigrant children at the U.S.-Mexico border. She said Obama failed to deliver on his promises on immigration.
“We feel that Barack Obama did disservice to us. He denied us, and he didn’t stop the deportations, the way he promised,” Contreras continued.
“If you’re removing the name of Thomas Jefferson, one oppressor, the name of Obama is another oppressor, and our families do not want to see that name,” she added.
One of the women who spoke said that her father had been deported under Obama in 2015, one of three million deported under Obama.
Apparently that makes him an “oppressor,” the fact that he did enforce the law in that regard. Now even that is bad, according to these activists. For some now, Obama is more centrist, imagine that. A frightening reality of how far the country has been moved since 2008. Imagine him becoming the victim of the “woeness” he helped to set loose on the country too, what irony that is.
