Hannah, a mother of two who goes by @nurshannahbh on TikTok, recently found herself at the center of online controversy after posting a candid video about her parenting experience. In the viral clip, which has garnered over six million views, Hannah was seen collecting 17 dirty diapers scattered around her house after just one day. As she walked through her home, picking up diapers from the coffee table, behind the couch, and even off the bedroom floor, she admitted, “No wonder my house freaking stinks right now.”
While many viewers were quick to judge and criticize her, accusing her of leaving her home in disarray and calling the content “not relatable,” Hannah never anticipated the reaction. She explained to People that she posted the video as a lighthearted moment, shocked by the sheer number of diapers she had changed that day. “I don’t think I realized how many diapers I had changed that day. I just pulled out my phone and filmed a funny video,” she shared, adding, “I didn’t think it was going to be controversial or honestly attract attention whatsoever.”
Hannah welcomed her second child only a month ago, and she acknowledged that “99 percent” of the initial comments were negative. Although the backlash left her feeling “a little embarrassed,” she brushed off the harsh criticism, saying, “Those people judging me don’t actually see what goes on inside my house.”
Defending herself as a mother, Hannah pointed out that viewers only saw the dirty diapers and missed everything else happening in her day-to-day life. “Yes, there were 17 diapers around my house, but [viewers] didn’t see me coloring with my son while breastfeeding my newborn at the same time. They didn’t see me taking my son to the park, pushing him on the swing, while holding my newborn,” she explained.
Critics also targeted her husband, accusing him of not helping with their children. However, Hannah clarified that her husband had been on a planned hunting trip and was gone for just one day. “My husband had a planned hunting trip for over a year. He was gone for one day. We both agreed that I could manage the kids,” she explained.
Despite the backlash, Hannah received a wave of support from other parents. In the comments, people shared messages of encouragement, praising her for prioritizing her children. “That’s 17 times your sweet babies were prioritized over your house,” one person commented, while another added, “Being a mom is hard. You got this, momma!”
In a follow-up video, Hannah acknowledged the support and revealed that the criticism paled in comparison to the messages of encouragement. She even noticed other moms sharing their own stories, turning the viral moment into what she called the “17 diapers trend.” Through it all, Hannah has remained confident in her parenting, finding comfort in the solidarity of other parents who understood the real struggles behind raising young children.
