Suzanne Clark Simpson, a 51-year-old mother of four, vanished just an hour after telling her own mother about alleged physical abuse by her husband, Brad Simpson. Suzanne has not been seen or heard from since she and her property tycoon husband reportedly got into a heated argument, leaving her family fearing the worst.
At a vigil held Sunday night, Suzanne’s mother, Barbara Clark, shared the heartbreaking details of their last conversation. “Suzanne and I had an opportunity to talk an hour before a lot of this happened,” Clark said. During that conversation, Suzanne confided that her husband had physically harmed her. Clark speculated that alcohol may have played a role in the altercation, told the New York Post.
Suzanne told her mother that around 9 p.m. on the night she disappeared, Brad had injured her arm and back, according to a report from KSAT. Distressed by what her daughter told her, Clark quickly devised a plan to get Suzanne out of the house and into a safer environment. “I came up with an alternative plan for her that she would move in with me, and her little toddler could attend the elementary school in my neighborhood,” Clark explained, via Daily Mail. Tragically, Suzanne vanished before her mother could share the plan.
Despite efforts to remain hopeful, the family is losing hope that Suzanne is still alive. “We’re trying to be positive,” Clark said, “but we just don’t believe she’s alive anymore.”
As of now, no trace of Suzanne has been found. Her husband, Brad Simpson, 53, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily injury – family violence, as well as unlawful restraint.
The case has left Suzanne’s family and community devastated, as they continue to search for answers and hope for her safe return.
