In a tense operation that unfolded over several hours, law enforcement agencies in Henry County successfully apprehended Richard Sager, a man wanted for attempted murder. The coordinated manhunt, involving multiple agencies, began on Friday, August 30, after authorities received a crucial tip about Sager’s whereabouts.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded swiftly to the tip, converging on the area of Cypress Road and Otts Road. Sager, who had active warrants for a criminal attempt to commit second-degree murder, was reportedly seen in the vicinity. When officers arrived, they discovered Sager’s vehicle abandoned, leading them to believe he had fled the scene moments before their arrival.

What followed was a meticulously coordinated search involving the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) and its Aviation Unit, the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, state park rangers, and the emergency management agency (EMA). The agencies quickly established a containment perimeter, ensuring that Sager had no means of escape.

The operation showcased the power of collaboration, with THP’s Aviation Unit and drones deployed by EMA playing critical roles in the search. After approximately four hours, the combined efforts paid off as Sager was located and taken into custody without incident.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude for the swift and effective response from all involved, stating, “Through the quick response of all agencies and the use of THP Aviation Unit and drone usage by EMA, law enforcement was able to apprehend Sager without incident.”

While the arrest marked the successful conclusion of the manhunt, details surrounding the initial incident that led to Sager being wanted for attempted murder remain sparse. Authorities have yet to release further information on the circumstances of the crime or what led to Sager’s attempted escape.

The community can now breathe a sigh of relief knowing that a dangerous individual is off the streets, thanks to the diligent efforts of local and state law enforcement agencies. As the investigation continues, more details may emerge, shedding light on the events that led to this dramatic arrest.
