A 27-year-old man has been arrested after his girlfriend’s two-year-old son was found dead in a bin.
Tragic Athian Rivera, who was branded a “beautiful angel”, was reported missing on Friday, but sadly his body his body was found stuffed in a bin hours later.
Now investigators in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in the US, have arrested Athian’s mum’s partner Wyatt Lamb on suspicion of murder and child abuse.
The little boy’s cause of death has not been revealed.
Lamb was already wanted for parole violation, police said, but did not reveal whether any more arrests were imminent in connection with Athian’s death.
Friend Kim Coble set up a GoFundMe appeal to raise money for the little boy’s family, stating: “On February 19, 2021 a beautiful angel’s life was needlessly cute short.
“Athian Rivera was a cute, lovely and playful two year old boy who loved playing with his sibling, loved watching Sesame Street with a special affinity for Elmo.
“There are no words to describe the grief the family is feeling at this time.”
Police said they carried out an “extensive” search after the toddler was reported missing, before his body was found.
Cheyenne Police said in a statement: “Wyatt Lamb, 27, of Cheyenne was contacted at the residence and taken into police custody around 6.15pm on an unrelated felony warrant for failure to appear and misdemeanor warrant for parole violation.
“Cheyenne Police Detectives have now forwarded an affidavit of probable cause to the Laramie County District Attorney supporting additional charges of Aggravated Child Abuse and Murder.
“This case remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.”
