In an incredible twist of fate, a woman broke up with her boyfriend, only for him to forget it ever happened after a serious concussion. Just seven months later, the couple tied the knot, according to People Magazine!
When Jenna and Mitchell Brotherson married in September 2020, no one would have guessed that they’d split up earlier that year. The day after Jenna decided to end things due to being “overwhelmed with life,” Mitchell suffered a severe concussion in a skiing accident at Utah’s Beaver Mountain, where he landed on his head attempting a tricky flip.
The injury impacted Mitchell’s memory, making him forget the breakup entirely. When he woke up in the hospital, he called Jenna, unaware that they were no longer together. Surprised, Jenna initially thought he was just trying to stay friends, as he’d even brought her and her roommate’s ice cream one evening when she mentioned they’d had a rough day.
Realizing she missed Mitchell’s kindness and support, Jenna began reconsidering the breakup. When she got back from a spring break vacation in March 2020, she took a chance and asked him to get back together—only to discover he had no memory of the split. Laughing it off, Mitchell was surprised but happy to be reunited, saying he never felt like they’d been apart.
Their bond grew stronger, and in August 2020, Mitchell proposed to Jenna at Big Cottonwood Canyon, the place where he’d first told her he loved her. Less than three weeks later, they married, making their relationship official on September 4, 2020, in Draper, Utah.
Reflecting on the unique path that led them to marriage, Jenna recalls, “My husband even joked during his speech about not remembering the breakup but being grateful it all worked out.” Now, at 27, the couple loves sharing their story, a testament to fate’s surprising twists and the “invisible strings” that brought them back together.
