A man has been arrested for assaulting police officers with a colostomy bag.
Officers were called to attend a disturbance at the Honky Tonk Rock ‘N Roll Steakhouse, a restaurant bar in Nashville, Tennessee owned by All Summer Long hitmaker Kid Rock.
Upon arrival, they were confronted by a man named in the police report as Nicholas Adam Newhart.
“The defendant was outside drunk holding a bottle of beer blocking the outside emergency exit door at Kid Rock’s,” the report reads.
“Kid Rock security told the defendant to leave … but he refused.”
When the police tried to persuade Newhart, 39, to leave the area, he removed a colostomy bag and began brandishing it in their faces, in a couple of cases the excrement-filled container made contact with the officers.
The report adds: “When the Metro police officers arrived at the location to assist security the defendant took out his colostomy bag from the inside of his front pants area and started to swing the bag around from left to right, hitting two of the Metro police officers with his faeces.”
According to the police statement, Newhart was so extremely intoxicated at the time of the incident that he couldn’t stand steadily on his own, had bloodshot eyes and “a strong smell of alcohol” emanating from his body.
The report continued: “Some units and patrons have been assaulted with faeces, and at least one officer has left work to change clothes.”
According to local media reports, this is the third time in as many days that Newhart had assaulted someone with his colostomy bag.
Newhart, who states on his Facebook page that he’s from Wyandotte, Oklahoma, sports a large Confederate flag tattoo on the back of his head, making him easy to identify in a crowd.
The suspect was arrested and later charged with two misdemeanour counts of assault of an officer-offensive contact, as well as public intoxication and disorderly conduct. He is currently being held pending a $4,500 (£3,234k) bond, according to most recent reports.
