You look at those cute little flowers blooming on hair pins, bands, clips, bags and cards and you can’t resist their charm! So why not learn to make the one by yourself. Here is a simple craft, which will show you how simple it is to make a little flower with wasted fabrics.
All you need is:
- Some stiffened fabric pieces in different colors and prints
- A pencil
- A paper
- Scissors
- Needle
- Thread
- Buttons
- And an iron
Step 1:
With a pencil sketch flower shapes, of three different sizes, on the back of your fabric. And cut the fabrics into flower shapes that you have drawn. You can also first draw flowers on a piece of paper and make some paper templates to make the process much easier.
Step 2:
Cut out each flower piece. Then pinch little creases between the petals, overlapping them very slightly to add dimension.
Step 3:
Press the creases with an iron. While each petal is still warm, roll the edges back to make a pretty petal shape. The fabric is very soft and pliable when it’s warm, but after it cools a couple seconds, it’s crisp again. If you’re unsatisfied with a petal, just iron it again and reshape it.
Step 4:
Layer three flower shapes in graduated sizes, staggering the petals. Stitch them together with a button in the center.
And your flowers are perfectly ready to bloom on anything you want!
