Candra Rogers, an assistant principal at Collins Intermediate School in Corsicana, is home and recovering after being injured during a “classroom disruption” last week, via Fox News. The incident, which led to Rogers being airlifted to a hospital, has raised concerns within the school community, though details remain limited.

The Corsicana Independent School District confirmed that Rogers has been released from the hospital and is recuperating at home. However, further information about her condition has not been disclosed.

In a letter to parents, Principal Tiffany Boortz explained that the incident occurred on August 15 during a classroom session that involved fewer than 10 students. Although specifics of what transpired have not been released, Boortz assured parents that no other students or staff members were injured or in danger. The campus was placed on hold status as staff attended to Rogers, told CBS News.

Following the incident, one student was taken into custody. The identity of the student has not been made public, but WFAA-TV reported that the student is now under parental supervision and is being monitored with an ankle bracelet. The Navarro County District Attorney’s Office stated that charges are pending against the student, though the exact charges will be determined after the police complete their investigation.

Rogers, who is in her second semester with the school district, joined Corsicana alongside her husband, Eugene Rogers, who is serving his first season as a football coach at the district’s high school. The incident has undoubtedly shaken the community, but the school district is focusing on Rogers’ recovery and ensuring the safety and well-being of all students and staff.

The situation remains under investigation, and more details are expected to emerge as authorities continue their work. In the meantime, the community has rallied around Rogers and her family, offering support during this challenging time.
