The intricate legal saga surrounding former beauty queen Lindsay Shiver, her estranged husband, and an alleged murder plot has taken a dramatic turn. On July 31, 2023, Lindsay Shiver’s current boyfriend, Dorsey Ryan Love, 35, was arrested on domestic violence charges in Dothan, Alabama, for allegedly assaulting Shiver, according to Law and Crime.

The Dothan Police Department charged Love with assault-domestic violence-strangulation/suffocation following an incident on July 25. According to the police report, Shiver accused Love of physically attacking her, including throwing her onto a bed, choking her, and attempting to suffocate her with a pillow. These details emerged after Shiver filed for a protective order on July 29, where she described the violent encounter and added, “He threatened to kill me”, told Yahoo.

Shiver, who held the title of Miss Houston County in 2005, also revealed that this was not the first time Love had assaulted her. She alleged that a previous attack occurred during a trip to Florida, although she did not report it to authorities at the time.

This latest development comes amid Lindsay Shiver’s ongoing legal troubles involving an alleged plot to murder her estranged husband, Robert Shiver. Robert, an insurance executive and former Auburn University football player, filed for divorce in April 2023, citing Lindsay’s “adulterous conduct.”

Lindsay Shiver’s legal nightmare began in July 2023 when she was accused of conspiring with her then-lover, Terrance Bethel, and his friend, Faron Newbold Jr., to murder Robert. The plot reportedly unfolded in the Bahamas, where Bahamian police uncovered the scheme while investigating a break-in at a bar where Bethel worked. Authorities discovered incriminating evidence on Bethel’s phone, including a chilling text message from Lindsay Shiver to Newbold that included a photo of her husband with the directive: “Kill him.”

This message has become central to the prosecution’s case against Lindsay. However, she has maintained that her words were taken out of context, explaining to investigators that any mention of murder was made in a moment of anger following a heated argument with Robert. “It was said out of anger and frustration,” she told authorities, according to The Daily Mail.

As Lindsay Shiver faces trial, her attorney, Owen Wells, has asserted her innocence, emphasizing that she is fully cooperating with authorities. “She continues to face the legal process with complete transparency and honesty,” Wells stated. “Lindsay is looking forward to getting this ordeal behind her and—most importantly—she is looking forward to being reunited with her young children who have been without their mother for many months.”

Lindsay Shiver, who was living with her husband and their three children in Thomasville, Georgia, was granted bail following her arrest. She was released on a $100,000 bond and allowed to return to the U.S. to reside with her parents under strict conditions, including wearing an ankle monitor. Her co-defendants, Bethel and Newbold, were also released on bail, under similar restrictions.
