DESIGNER DRESSES:
DOMINANT STYLES THIS SEASON:
Strapless dresses have dominated wedding dresses over the years. To update this winning style of the ever-popular strapless silhouette, opt for shoulder detailing, with a-symmetric one-shoulder styles taking their cue from the runway collections. Not only is this style popular in evening dresses, it’s also an elegant style for wedding dresses this season. The shoulder area has become more prominent over the past two seasons in fashion. Instead of shoulder padding, off- the- shoulder bridal dresses adorned with bows and sparkle detailing make the shoulder a focal point again.
Several styles of dresses from the forties and fifties are rising again. These vintage dresses include styles such as the ball gown dresses, as seen in Vera Wang’s collection, the mermaid dresses, and the classic 1950’s housewife dresses! I know, I know ‘ the 1950’s isn’t really for everyone but those of you who prefer old school styles of dresses may just love the throwback to the 50’s.
An emphasis on the waist continues in wedding dresses, with many designers featuring corset style tops and ribbon detailing with bows. The ballgown style of dresses provides tight waist styling and detailing.
Vintage dresses can also look smart on a bride, and in particular the tea-length dresses come just below the knee. These wedding dresses are super stylish, and look great strapless or with plunging necklines.
Lastly, I love the Grecian wedding dresses. The Grecian look can be achieved by a long, silhouette of a dress, with a slight flowing feel or by using many layers that overlap one another. Go for a halter or off the shoulder neckline with these wedding dresses.
