Anticipation is high in the Royal household as Prince William and Kate’s children—George, Charlotte, and Louis—gear up for a series of significant events, culminating in an eagerly awaited milestone this Saturday.
The young royals have recently experienced a whirlwind of memorable moments. They met pop sensation Taylor Swift, participated in the Trooping the Colour celebrations, and are expected to make an appearance at Wimbledon soon. However, this week’s highlight promises to be particularly special for a simple yet meaningful reason.
July 6 marks the end of the school year at Lambrook School, where the royal children are enrolled. According to the school’s website, students from Nursery to Year 4 have classes Monday through Friday, while those in Years 5 to 8 also attend on Saturdays. This means Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—who are in Year 6, Year 4, and Year 1, respectively—are eagerly looking forward to the start of their summer vacation.
The upcoming academic year won’t commence until Wednesday, September 4, giving the young royals over eight weeks of holiday. This extended break is likely a welcome relief, especially for nine-year-old Charlotte, who has recently been dealing with school exams, told The Mirror.
During a D-Day commemoration event in Portsmouth last month, Prince William shared an endearing update about his daughter. When a well-wisher inquired about Charlotte, he revealed, “Charlotte’s at school, Charlotte’s got exams.” He added, “Yes, she’s got tests she wasn’t looking forward to it this morning… Hopefully, it’s all gone well!”
Lambrook School, set amidst 52 acres of Berkshire countryside, offers a plethora of facilities, including a golf course, swimming pool, theatre, sports center, and various art studios. Melanie Sanderson, Managing Editor of The Good Schools Guide, remarked to Hello!, “We know the royals love being outdoors. They love the countryside, and it’s a real muddy-knees type of school. They’ve got acres and acres of pitches and fields to explore and they’re allowed free rein in their break times.”
In addition to the academic pressures, George, Charlotte, and Louis have been navigating the emotional challenges following their mother’s cancer diagnosis. The summer break will provide a much-needed opportunity for the family to spend quality time together and recharge.
As for the summer holiday plans of William and Kate, it remains uncertain. The couple has previously taken their children to the Isles of Scilly, a cherished holiday destination. They might also journey to Scotland to spend time with King Charles at Balmoral. This estate was a favorite summer retreat for the late Queen, who cherished her time there with numerous family members, including William, Kate, Charles, Camilla, and Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.
King Charles is likely to continue this tradition, as Balmoral is known to be a favored residence. Princess Eugenie once shared in the documentary “Our Queen At Ninety,” “I think Granny is the most happy there. I think she really, really loves the Highlands.”
As the school year draws to a close, the Royal family looks forward to a summer filled with cherished memories and well-deserved rest.
