He then posted the news: “Two decades, 10 films, one saga.” The ninth film will be released on April 19, 2019, and will be followed by the 10th installment on April 2, 2021.
Vin Diesel had previously said he wanted the next film in the franchise, Fast 8, to be the first installment in a new trilogy. That film, said to be set in New York with some scenes potentially being shot in Cuba, will be directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) and is scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 17, 2017.
