This Christmas, what should you get the girl who has everything? Well, if the girl in question is Lady Gaga, may we advise you against buying her any Michael Jackson memorabilia? Because it looks like she probably has enough to be going on with, after Sunday’s auction (December 2, 2012) at Julien’s Auctions in Los Angeles, of Jacko’s prized possessions. Lady Gaga reportedly purchased no fewer than 55 of the lots, including the jacket that Michael wore on his ‘Bad’ tour and some of his iconic white, crystal encrusted gloves.
It’s not clear whether Gaga intends to use the clothing in her own stage shows and videos or she will merely preserve them, though she did tell fans, via Twitter “The 55 pieces I collected today will be archived & expertly cared for in the spirit & love of Michael Jackson, his bravery, & fans worldwide,” which suggests she probably won’t be prancing around in them just yet. Whatever she does with them, she’ll be wanting to keep them in pristine condition, because they set her back a pretty penny. The jacket reached $240,000 and bidding on the gloves ended at over $100,000.
The auction raised about $5 million in total. Some of the proceeds of the sale will benefit Guide Dogs of America and the Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas. – Contactmusic
