Troubled US actor Charlie Sheen filed for divorce from his wife Brooke Mueller after the drunken incident in New York hotel.
The star of sitcoms “Two and a Half Men” and “Spin City” on Monday filed papers at Los Angeles Superior Court to divorce Brooke Mueller, whom he wed in May 2008 but split from on Christmas Day 2009 when arrested for allegedly assaulting her.
Sheen, 45, and Mueller, 33, have twin sons Bob and Max, born in March 2009. The couple had a pre-nuptial agreement according to which, Mueller will get 750,000 US dollars as a one-time payment, plus 55,000 a month in child support. Besides, she would get primary custody of the children, with Sheen having visiting rights.
Sheen, who is one of the best-paid TV actors, was hospitalized after causing serious damage to his room at the Plaza Hotel, where police found him drunk, naked and in the company of a woman.
“He’s kinda free to do whatever he wants to do,” said Mueller adding, “Charlie and I don’t live together anymore. He’s not cheating on me. We’re separated.”
