After leaving her acting career behind to marry Prince Harry in 2018, Meghan Markle’s life changed dramatically. Known for her role as Rachel Zane on Suits, Meghan stepped away from the spotlight when she became the Duchess of Sussex. Following her and Harry’s decision to step back from royal duties—a move dubbed “Megxit”—rumors began swirling about Meghan potentially returning to Hollywood.

Speculation about her return to the entertainment industry intensified as reports emerged that the couple was considering relocating to Malibu, drawn by its proximity to Los Angeles and its reputation as a celebrity hotspot. Currently, Meghan and Harry live in a luxurious mansion in Montecito, a quieter area outside LA, but the commute to downtown can take up to three hours. Moving to Malibu could place them closer to the action, in a neighborhood favored by stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, and Charlize Theron.

Despite these rumors, Meghan’s own words offer a more nuanced view of her future in Hollywood. In a 2022 Vanity Fair interview, conducted shortly after Queen Elizabeth II’s death, Meghan reflected on her departure from acting. “I left Suits right after the 100th episode, in 2018. I didn’t think I’d ever be in the entertainment industry again,” she said, as quoted by The Mirror.

Meghan observed how the entertainment landscape has evolved since her time on Suits, noting how streaming services have altered the way audiences engage with content. “During the ’90s, everyone would come together at the same time to watch a show. But that doesn’t happen in today’s world,” she explained.

She fondly recalled her days on Suits, describing how the character of Rachel Zane felt intimately connected with audiences. “When I was doing Suits, that character, Rachel Zane, was in your living room with you while you were in your pyjamas eating Chinese takeout. That’s how connected the experience felt then,” Meghan said.

However, she acknowledged that creating a similar cultural connection today requires something different. “To create a cultural moment or conversation requires something different today. Podcasting has been really interesting in that way. It might be one of the only remaining forums where people are alone to listen,” she added, hinting at her current interest in the medium.

As Meghan and Harry continue to navigate life outside the royal spotlight, questions remain about whether the Duchess will return to Hollywood or forge a new path altogether. For now, Meghan’s reflections suggest she’s more focused on meaningful conversations than on a traditional return to the entertainment industry.
