Meghan Markle is seemingly still finding her footing despite moving to the United States with Prince Harry in 2020, and her latest move has her feeling the “pressure.”
Since their departure from the royal family, Meghan and Harry have been exploring various projects and business ventures, with Harry also focusing on his Invictus Games. Although they’ve expressed happiness with their new life in the U.S., the couple appears to be navigating ongoing challenges. Meghan’s latest endeavor is being dubbed a potential “disaster” as the Duchess faces mounting “pressure” to succeed.
The Duchess of Sussex faced significant scrutiny in 2023 when her podcast, Archetypes, was not renewed beyond its first series of episodes. Meghan and Spotify parted ways after the company deemed the podcast’s performance unsatisfactory. In response, Meghan re-signed with Lemonada Media and announced a new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, along with a forthcoming cooking show on Netflix. However, an insider claims Meghan is feeling intense “pressure” to make this venture a success.
According to Express, an inside source told Closer Magazine that the atmosphere at home is “tense” as Meghan prepares to launch another new business. “You can just imagine the kind of pressure it’s putting on her and, by extension, Harry,” the source said. “If this show flops it will be a total disaster, and she knows it. She’s on tenterhooks waiting for it to come out and the stress it’s causing her is being felt by everyone around her, especially Harry.”
The cooking show, which has yet to be named or given a release date, is set to debut alongside Meghan’s new brand. However, the lack of details is causing concern about its potential success.
Meghan is no stranger to lifestyle brands; she previously ran a successful blog, The Tig, before meeting Harry. Although she closed the blog after their engagement, her continued interest in the lifestyle space is evident. Meghan certainly has the means to launch a successful home and life brand, but the stakes are high.
With the fallout from the Spotify situation and ongoing controversy surrounding their royal exit, Meghan needs to establish herself firmly if she wants to be taken seriously as a celebrity. Success is within reach, provided the new brand and show resonate as relatable and genuine with the audience—but only time will tell.
