Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are facing accusations of breaking the terms and conditions of Megxit. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who left the Royal institution in 2020 with the promise to remain private, have been accused of insulting the Queen by not adhering to their agreement.
Royal expert Tom Bower told The Sun, “They betrayed and ignored the agreement that they settled on. Allegedly they were going to California for privacy and to leave the royal family. They’ve done the exact opposite.”
Bower continued, “I think Meghan and Harry have had a hugely negative impact on the royal family – the damage has been everlasting. The tragedy is that they tried terribly hard to help Meghan. After all, Charles escorted her into the wedding in St. George’s Chapel.”
The expert also spoke about the Queen’s efforts to settle Meghan into royal life. “The Queen assigned over half a dozen people to look after Meghan and help her get into the ways of the royal family,” he noted. “But they could never win. We now know in hindsight that Meghan never really intended to stay.”
Bower’s remarks highlight the ongoing tension and controversy surrounding the couple’s departure from royal duties and their subsequent public activities. Despite their stated intentions to seek privacy, Harry and Meghan have remained highly visible and active in the media, leading to claims that they have not upheld their part of the Megxit agreement.
The accusations add to the complex narrative of the Sussexes’ relationship with the royal family and the public perception of their actions since stepping back from royal duties. As public figures, their every move continues to be scrutinized, with critics questioning their commitment to the terms they agreed upon when leaving the royal institution.
