The 26-year-old actress stars alongside Jesse Eisenberg, Steve Carell and Blake Lively in the director’s latest offering Cafe Society. However, her decision to appear in the film was slammed by Woody’s estranged son Ronan Farrow, who said that by doing so she and the rest of the film’s cast were ignoring the director’s links to an alleged child molestation scandal. But Kristen Stewart insists she and Jesse discussed in depth whether or not to star in the film.

“I was like, ‘What do you think? We don’t know any of these people involved. I can personalise situations, which would be very wrong’,” Kristen told The Hollywood Reporter. “At the end of the day, Jesse and I talked about this. If we were persecuted for the amount of s**t that’s been said about us that’s not true, our lives would be over. The experience of making the movie was so outside of that, it was fruitful for the two of us to go on with it.”

Kristen, Blake, Steve and Jesse joined Woody for the premiere of Cafe Society at the Cannes Film Festival in France on Wednesday (11May16), and Ronan said he’s disgusted his dad still has so much Hollywood support after he and his mother, Mia Farrow, accused Woody of sexually assaulting his adopted daughter Dylan. “They can trust that the press won’t ask them the tough questions,” Ronan told the publication. “It’s not the time, it’s not the place, it’s just not done.
