Kate Winslet Wins Award British Icon

The ‘Jobs’ actress, 40, received the British Icon Award in recognition of her talent and success at the prestigious event at Claridge’s hotel in London last night (03.11.15) and speaking at the ceremony, she said: ”I am proud to be in a room full of women being kind to each other. A room filled with poise and power.” ‘Burnt’ star Sienna was named Best Actress for her performances in the new film, ‘American Sniper’ and ‘Mississippi Grind,‘ while Nicole picked up the Theatre Icon trophy for her portrayal of scientist Rosalind Franklin in the West End production ‘Photograph 51’.

‘Downton Abbey’ star Lily James, who appears on the cover of the publication’s December issue, won the Breakthrough Award, while other big winners included Lara Stone, who was named Model of the Year, ‘The Affair’ star Ruth Wilson and British singer Ellie Goulding. Independent London designer Erdem Moralioglu was named Man of the Year. Justine Picardie, Editor-in-Chief of Harper’s Bazaar, said: ”The annual Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards celebrate the creativity and talent of women across fashion, the arts and philanthropy. All of the winners are uniquely talented, inspiring and intelligent, and we are delighted to be honouring them.”
