So much for one less lonely girl. Justin Bieber and Sofia Richie have called it quits on their relationship just six weeks after first stepping out together this past August. According to an insider, things started “cooling off” between the couple earlier this month. Their split comes just days after Richie, 18, gushed to Billboard magazine about her “special relationship” with the “Sorry” singer, 22. “Justin is very easy to talk to, and that’s hard to find with people in Los Angeles,” the model, whose dad is Lionel Richie, said in an interview published on September 8.
The pair were first spotted holding hands while on a seaside stroll in Laguna Beach on August 5. After going hiking in Los Angeles and spending time at Bieber’s pad, the longtime friends jetted off to Japan and Tokyo. The “Let Me Love You” singer then whisked Richie — the younger sister of Nicole Richie — away to Mexico to celebrate her 18th birthday. Their romantic getaway came after Bieber deleted his Instagram account in support of Richie after his fans bombarded the couple in the comments section of his photos.
“I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate this is getting out of hand,” Bieber wrote alongside a black-and-white photo of him and Richie last month. “If you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people like that.” Bieber’s ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez also chimed in on the drama. “If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol – it should be special between you two only. Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you,” she commented on the shot. Richie and Bieber were last photographed together in L.A. on August 26.
