The Internet is currently in a frenzy because, yet again, the singer has taken to Instagram to post a photo of himself with ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, which causes a flurry of questions, but mainly this one—why?! Is he just reminiscing on old memories? Is he hinting at another reconciliation? Is he just trying to make a statement or get her attention? WTF? And, of course, there was no caption to give us any sort of context behind his post, so don’t feel bad about letting your imaginations run wild. (UPDATE: He added a caption that said, “Just a throwback calm down.”)

The interesting part, however, is the picture (which shows Selena and Justin on a red ATV) isn’t new. In fact, it’s from August 2014, when Bieber was arrested near his hometown in Ontario, Canada, after an afternoon of riding, which ended in a supposed brawl. Ah, the memories. The picture even apparently caught the attention of fellow Canadian Drake, who, according to screenshots from fans, commented on the photo with, “Damn thought this was a Jelena current day flick,” and added a sad face emoji. Aside from his sudden blast from the past, Bieber’s Instagram has been full of selfies and snowy snapshots from hitting the slopes over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Gomez was recently seen walking in Beverly Hills with Bieber, 21, who also serenaded her that night at a hotel bar in the city. The two have not commented on the nature of their relationship, but the brunette beauty told InStyle UK during an interview that she doesn’t want to talk about him anymore.. “I’m just tired of talking about it,” Gomez told InStyle UK, when asked about being quizzed about dating the fellow singer. “I never intended for my life to become a tabloid story.” However, the mag did note that Selena is dating. But is it Justin again? Guess we’ll find out soon enough.
