The 34-year-old actor thinks there is nothing more ”romantic” than a night in with his fiancée and enjoys creating a wide range of dishes for the singer. He said: ”To me, the most romantic gesture is a quiet night in with my girl. ”I like to cook for her. I’m a meat eater and a griller – I do steaks, I do chicken, I do fish. He told Cosmopolitan magazine: ”In my twenties I was figuring out my own life, so it was tough to give someone else my attention. ”By 30, I was in a good place with work and I’d met my fiancée. Everything slowed down and I could be a better partner.” Despite his career success, the ‘Vampire Diaries’ actor isn’t interested in luxuries and claims his favourite possession is a pair of novelty socks. Asked his prize possession, he said: ”SpongeBob SquarePants socks. I’m not very materialistic, I don’t have a lot of stuff. ”But I do always like a pair of really weird socks.”
