A recent report has revealed that Meghan Markle is “genuinely happy” about Kate Middleton’s recovery following her chemotherapy treatment. However, it also suggests that both Meghan and Prince Harry have “complicated” emotions surrounding Kate’s latest video update about her health, told The Mirror.
In a new video, the Princess of Wales shared that she has completed chemotherapy but is still in the process of recovering from cancer. While Meghan is “incredibly relieved” that Kate is doing well, an insider told Closer Magazine that the couple’s feelings are far from simple.
The source claimed, “There’s still an element of guilt that she and Harry are grappling with. They both have regrets over going so public with their complaints about the family and Kate in particular.”
Meghan and Harry’s fallout with the royal family, including their criticisms of Kate, has been widely covered in the media. The insider explained that while Meghan once felt they had no other choice but to speak out, time has given her a new perspective. “Now that time has passed and those heightened feelings have cooled off, she realizes things could have been handled more discreetly,” the source added. Watching Kate’s video update reportedly brought all of those emotions back to the surface.
The report also touched on Meghan’s frustration over how she is perceived compared to Kate. According to the source, “Any time Meghan tries to open up and share her truth, the way Kate did in her video, she seems to get slammed for it.” The insider went on to say that Meghan believes this double standard is “very unfair,” yet she doesn’t see a way out of it. “The video has left her feeling like she’s backed into a corner where there’s no way she can have that rapport with the public that Kate does,” the source said.
Despite these feelings, the source emphasized that Meghan is genuinely happy for Kate. “Of course, she’s happy that Kate is better,” the insider confirmed.
In the video, Kate reflected on her cancer journey, saying, “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment. The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family.” She went on to share the emotional toll of the experience, adding, “Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”
