Meghan has been focusing on launching her lifestyle brand, while Harry remains dedicated to his Invictus Games Foundation. Recently, however, a significant staff member announced his resignation after a decade of service, coinciding with a controversy involving the Duke of Sussex.
Harry has been deeply passionate about the Invictus Games since its inception in 2014. The foundation, a charity, hosts the bi-annual Invictus Games, a competition for sick or injured service members. It also raises funds for those who have suffered injuries or illnesses, often due to military service.
The foundation’s CEO, Dominic Reid, recently announced his decision to step down. Reid, a close friend of Harry’s, has been with the foundation since its beginning. While Reid stated it was “the right time” to step down, some speculate his resignation might be linked to the backlash Harry received after being honored with the Pat Tillman Award at the 2024 ESPYs. The connection between these events remains unclear.
In a statement regarding Reid’s departure, Harry expressed his gratitude: “I am immensely grateful to my friend, Dominic, whose dedication and leadership transformed the Invictus Games from an ambitious idea to an internationally recognized movement,” the New York Post reports.
During their time with the royal family, Harry and Meghan made headlines for the high turnover of their staff. Meghan faced accusations of bullying her staff and reports of sending early morning emails. Some defended Meghan, attributing the issues to differences in work ethic, influenced by her American upbringing and its distinct view on work-life balance.
The exact reason for Reid’s resignation is still unknown, making it difficult to determine if it relates to the criticism Harry faced over his award. Nevertheless, Harry remains committed to the Invictus Games and is preparing to launch the foundation’s first Winter Games in Vancouver in 2025.
