Eva Amurri has a message for those criticizing her wedding dress: she’s not here for the negativity. Amurri, daughter of Susan Sarandon and director Franco Amurri, tied the knot with chef Ian Hock on June 29 in a stunning strapless Kim Kassas gown. Addressing the critics on her Instagram Stories, Amurri made it clear that she loves her dress and isn’t bothered by the naysayers.
“To anyone scandalized by my breasts not being ‘put away’ …. Feel free to screenshot this for later,” the 39-year-old actress and lifestyle blogger wrote over a zoomed-in shot of her chest, complete with a kissy face emoji.
Amurri’s gown, which she bought from Bridal Reflections in New York City, featured a corseted design. “I love how it has a vintage feel and is ultra feminine without being overly pouffy,” she told PEOPLE. “I wanted to feel sexy but elegant, and I think the dress strikes the perfect balance.” She paired the gown with a dramatic veil that added to the overall glamour of her look.
The intimate wedding took place at Windrift Hall in New York’s Hudson Valley with 40 guests in attendance. Despite a rainy day that required last-minute adjustments to the ceremony, Amurri shared on Instagram that everything turned out perfectly, even joking that the rain made everyone’s skin look beautiful.
The wedding theme was a French garden party, with natural colors to create a whimsical yet earthy atmosphere. Amurri’s mother, Susan Sarandon, embraced the theme by wearing a floral suit from SuitShop. The couple opted for a low-key and intimate celebration, foregoing a traditional bridal party. “We wanted to write our own love letters to each other to read as vows, which was so special for us,” Amurri told PEOPLE. “Major [her son] walked me down the aisle, which was an experience I’ll never forget.”
All three of Amurri’s children—daughter Marlowe Mae, 9, and sons Major James, 7, and Mateo Antoni, 4, from her previous marriage to Kyle Martino—played a role in the ceremony. They participated in a “handfasting” ritual using ribbons they had selected with their mother and Hock.
Following the ceremony, Amurri changed into a second outfit: a minidress by Kim Kassas adorned with feather trim, floral lace, and sparkles. “I paired it with custom Nike Air Force Ones that were embellished with pearls and our wedding date. It felt like Priscilla Presley-meets-street style!”
