Demi Lovato to Offer ‘Therapy Sessions’ to Concertgoers Before Shows

The singer and actress – who has previously been open about her struggles with bipolar disorder and addiction – is taking a treatment programme on her upcoming tour. “It’s basically like a therapy session before the concerts and we have speakers from all over and we are also helping out with different charities from around the country,” she said on Good Morning America.

“So it will be an incredible, very moving and inspiring experience.” The programme is from CAST Centres, the LA-based treatment centre which Lovato co-owns. She has taken them along to shows before and said it was “an incredible experience”. “I’ve actually met people that go to CAST because they went to CAST on tours and realised they needed to get sober or they needed to better themselves in some other way and it’s changed lives and I want to be able to do that again.”

Lovato, 25, has spoken before of wanting to take away the stigma of mental illness. “I think that it’s important for me to use my voice for more than just singing,” said the Skyscraper singer. “I just know how important it is to use my platform to help others and to share my story in hopes that it inspires people to either get into recovery or better themselves. “Whatever it is, I just want people to know they are not alone and I’m here for them.”
