During a recent visit to the Royal United Hospital in Bath, England, Queen Camilla offered a rare and candid update on King Charles’ health amidst his ongoing recovery from cancer. On September 3, while inaugurating the Dyson Cancer Center, which serves over 500,000 cancer patients in South West England, the Queen shared that her husband, King Charles, is “doing very well.”

During her tour of the Macmillan Wellbeing Hub—a space dedicated to providing emotional and practical support for patients, families, and carers—Queen Camilla was asked about The King’s health by Suzy Moon of the Macmillan Partnership. With a reassuring smile, Camilla responded, “He is doing very well,” as reported by The Mirror.

Her visit also included stops at the Medlock Unit and the William Budd inpatient ward, where she spoke with patients and staff. While speaking with nurse and patient Paul Holdway, Queen Camilla lightened the mood with a humorous comment. After Holdway mentioned feeling “tired,” she quipped, “Men won’t admit it,” a playful reference that seemed to hint at her own experiences with King Charles, as The Mirror noted the exchange was delivered with a “touch of humor.”

Throughout King Charles’ recovery, Camilla has offered small, heartfelt updates, often mixing her wit and warmth. At her second annual Queen’s Reading Room Literary Festival, she humorously revealed that the monarch was “doing fine except he won’t slow down and won’t do what he’s told,” according to The Sun.

The public first learned of King Charles’ cancer diagnosis in February, a revelation that shocked the world. Following the advice of his doctors, the King remained out of the public eye for three months to focus on his recovery. Buckingham Palace shared that Charles chose to disclose his diagnosis in an effort to raise awareness about early detection, hoping his openness would encourage others to seek medical help.

King Charles returned to his royal duties on April 30, accompanying Queen Camilla to a cancer center in London. Most recently, on August 31, he made an appearance at the Royal Horticultural Society of Aberdeen’s 200th Flower Show in Scotland. Looking ahead, King Charles and Queen Camilla are preparing for a significant trip to Australia and Samoa, marking their first official tour of Commonwealth countries since he ascended to the throne.

As Queen Camilla’s recent update indicates, despite his challenges, King Charles continues to persevere with his characteristic dedication to duty.
