The outpouring of support keeps coming for Angelina Jolie following her revelation that she underwent a preventative double mastectomy. The latest words of approval comes from her future mother-in-law. Brad Pitt’s mother, Jane Pitt, gave a statement to People, expressing how grateful she is for Jolie’s brave decision.
“We’re so very proud of Angie,” said Jane. “This means so much to our family, especially our grandchildren. We love her dearly.” Jolie’s brother, James Haven, also gave a statement to the magazine, saying, “My sister, like our mother, always put her children first.” The 37-year-old Oscar winner made the announcement in an op-ed piece for The New York Times. In the article, Jolie explained that she carries a gene that gives an estimated 87 percent chance of getting breast cancer.
“Once I knew that this was my reality, I decided to be proactive and to minimize the risk as much I could,” Jolie wrote. “I made a decision to have a preventive double mastectomy.” Later, Pitt released a statement, saying, “Having witnessed this decision firsthand, I find Angie’s choice, as well as many others like her, absolutely heroic. I thank our medical team for their care and focus.”
