They were one of those adorable couples everyone was rooting for, the R-Patz and K-Stew of Gossip Girl. But despite falling in love as their fictional characters had done, it was not to be for Blake Lively and Penn Badgely. However, unlike the normal world where you can avoid your ex at all costs [apart from some occasional Facebook stalking], the former lovebirds continue to work together on The CW show. And the duo were spied filming scenes together for the sixth and final season in New York, with poor Penn having to deal with the fact his ex-flame is now newly-married to Ryan Reynolds.
The two stars appeared to be shooting scenes inside Serena van der Woodsen’s [played by Blake] Upper East Side penthouse apartment, before she storms out the building. There seemed to be a little bit of awkwardness as Blake fiddled on her phone and Blake held his notepad, but this could have easily reflected their characters rather than real life in between takes.
Blake’s alter ego Serena is known for incessantly texting best friend and fellow protagonist Blair Waldorf [Leighton Meester], while Penn’s character Dan Humphries is a gifted writer often scribbling. Following Blake’s surprise September 9 wedding to her Green Lantern co-star, Penn said he ‘couldn’t be happier’ for his ex, whom he dated from 2007 to 2010. Speaking to People, he said: ‘I actually didn’t know until last night, but I think it’s fantastic. I couldn’t be happier for her. ‘They’re pretty spot on. I’m so happy for her. I think it’s everything that it should be.’ The 25-year-old actor has now moved on with Zoe Kravitz, daughter of Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz.
It’s difficult not to fall for Blake’s charms, as she warmly chatted to a member of the crew, while showing off her supermodel statistics in a pair of killer heels which elongated her 5ft 10in frame. And with her blonde hair wrapped neatly in a bun atop her head, she certainly resembled onscreen mother Kelly Rutherford, who plays Lily. Speaking of wrapping on the show that made her a star, Blake said: ‘I think the best way to describe it is like someone who enjoyed high school, and is like, I’m a senior and can’t wait for the next thing! ‘Gossip Girl was so great, but what’s the next challenge in life? Because… six years is a long time.’ Blake told Bullett magazine: ‘As an actor who plays a caricature of myself on the show, I don’t think I’d say, watch Gossip Girl for my best quality of work. But I am very lucky to have had that experience.’ – Dailymail
