It wasn’t the best year for romantic comedies, but that doesn’t mean 2012 was entirely devoid of romance on the big screen. Thanks to dramas like The Vow and The Lucky One, superhero couples like Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, and everyone else in between, we got our fill of love scenes — complete with some serious make-out sessions. Take a look at some of the most memorable lip-locks that steamed up the big screen in 2012.
Leo and Paige, The Vow:
Before Paige (Rachel McAdams) loses all her memories of husband Leo (Channing Tatum), they have a pretty hot makeout session on the floor of her studio.
Logan and Beth, The Lucky One:
Logan (Zac Efron) and Beth (Taylor Schilling) make the deep South even hotter when they finally connect.
Michael and Candace, Think Like a Man:
Michael (Terrence J) plants a sweet one on Candace (Regina Hall) — eyes closed and everything.
Tom and Violet, The Five-Year Engagement:
Tom (Jason Segel) and Violet (Emily Blunt) are blissfully in love when they first get engaged . . . but the road to “you may now kiss the bride” is long and winding.
Roger and Special Lady Friend, Dark Shadows:
Shady Roger Collins (Jonny Lee Miller) sneaks around with a random floozy, but Barnabus (Johnny Depp) gets a peek at his tryst. Creepiness at its finest, no?
Katniss and Peeta, The Hunger Games:
Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) plants a big one on Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), and though she claims it’s just for the cameras, there’s no denying the passion in this lip-lock.
Celeste and Jesse, Celeste and Jesse Forever:
Celeste (Rashida Jones) and Jesse (Andy Samberg) may not be married anymore, but some feelings never really go away — like kissing feelings.
Jack and Monica, To Rome With Love:
Jack (Jesse Eisenberg) gives in to his feelings for Monica (Ellen Page), even though his conscience (Alec Baldwin) advises against it.
Annie and Yul, Hit and Run:
Real-life couple Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell prove that they have equally good chemistry on the small screen.
Elissa and Ryan, House at the End of the Street:
Elissa (Jennifer Lawrence) gets hot and heavy with neighbor Ryan (Max Thieriot), but his creepy sister’s ghost really gets in the way of their romance.
Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, The Amazing Spider-Man:
OK, so it’s not exactly on par with the famous upside-down Spidey kiss, but Peter (Andrew Garfield) and Gwen (Emma Stone) have a pretty sweet first smooch right after he reveals his big secret.
Edward and Bella, Breaking Dawn Part 2:
What’s the first thing on every new vampire’s to-do list? Why, makeout with your hot vampire husband — tension-free — for the first time, of course!
Snow White and the Huntsman:
Though Snow White (Kristen Stewart) has hots for her childhood sweetheart, it’s The Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) who has the key to unlocking the curse. Hey, they can’t all be steamy makeout sessions!
Snow White and Prince Alcott, Mirror Mirror:
In a twist on the classic fairy tale, it’s Snow White (Lily Collins) who has to plant the kiss on her prince (Armie Hammer) to break the curse (in this case, the curse being that he’s acting like a dog — don’t ask).
The Deep Blue Sea:
The Avengers cutie Tom Hiddleston doesn’t get much action as Loki, but at least he gets to lock lips with Rachel Weisz in this indie.
