Donald and Melania Trump stay in separate bedrooms whenever they go away, it has been claimed.
A recent book about the former First Lady of the United States claims the couple stay in different rooms as Donald wakes up far earlier than Melania – and then goes and watches TV at 5am.
The book – The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump – doesn’t reveal what shows, but Fox News probably isn’t top of his list given the former President’s unfavourably remarks about their coverage of him.
While staying away from home, Trump is also said to request a room with a particular type of decor.
The book says: “No matter which of his properties he is visiting, Trump sleeps in a separate bedroom that has been decorated to his taste – he favours darker coloured walls and rugs, while Melania likes whites and light colours.
“Trump typically wakes around 5am, well before Melania, and turns on his television.”
It adds: “The Trump family works together and sometimes vacations together, but they are used to having their own space and a lot of it.
“Ivanka, her husband, Jared, and their three children have their own separate mansion at Bedminster, Trump’s private golf club on over five hundred acres in New Jersey.
“Donald and Melania aren’t known for inviting their grandkids to cuddle with them in bed in the morning, as George H. W. Bush and his wife, Barbara, famously used to with their grandchildren.”
The book, based on interviews with more than one hundred people in five countries, also gives an unprecedented portrait of the ex-first lady.
Author and Pulitzer Prize–winning Washington Post reporter Mary Jordan depicts a woman who was far more influential in the White House than most people realise.
While Melania’s public image is of an aloof woman floating above the political gamesmanship of Washington, behind the scenes she is not only part of President Trump’s inner circle, but for some key decisions, she has been his single most influential adviser.
Meanwhile, the Trumps have moved back to Donald’s Mar-a-Lago resort in southern Florida after leaving the White House on January 20, the same day as current US President Joe Biden was inaugurated.
Donald and Melania, who married in 2005, have also faced rumours of a pending divorce for some time, with reports suggesting Melania wants to set up an office separate from Donald’s now they have left the White House.
Melania is also reported to have not attended a recent Super Bowl party that her husband went to – which may be a sign the couple could split up.
Melania, who married Trump in 2005, has previously said she has “a great relationship” with Donald, who is 24 years her senior.
He has insisted that they never argue.
