The first time a mother holds her newborn Premature Baby will always go down as one of the best moments in her life. Entire internet parenting forums, photograph albums and mothers’ groups are dedicated to attempting to describe that specific feeling and put it into words or a still. But perhaps this incredibly touching video is the closest attempt yet. It shows new mum, Jessica (whose last name is still unknown) holding her newborn, 10-weeks premature son, Hugo, on her chest, after a nurse laid him there some 60 hours after he was born
According to Love What Matters, a New York-based internet group dedicated to inspiring personal stories, Hugo was delivered by C-section. That life-changing moment of Jessica getting to hold the little boy had to wait, as Hugo was taken to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to be ‘evaluated’, as it reads on the Love What Matters Facebook page post.
‘I took this video hoping to catch a moment,’ the Facebook post continues. ‘Never did I anticipate seeing the exact moment that she fell completely in love with him. The bond between Mother and Son immediately solidified.’ In the video, Jessica is seen breaking down into tears – clearly overwhelmed at the beauty and love of meeting her son.
‘I hope that this video can show people that Love is the most important thing in anyone’s life,’ the post continues. ‘Without it we will simply exist, when the goal is to live.’ The video has been viewed some 6.8 million times since it was uploaded last week, and it has some 44,000 shares and 123,000 likes on Facebook. The video has also brought many other mothers with premature babies to tears, as commenters have written posts including: ‘Brought tears to my eyes. My son was also whisked away straight after birth,’ one woman wrote. ‘Mother’s love will get you through it all,’ another posted.
