Winona Ryder is, allegedly, trying to save Johnny Depp’s career after the actor was accused of being a wife-beater.
According to National Enquirer, Winona Ryder has always had a soft spot for her ex-boyfriend. And she wants to make sure that Depp’s career won’t go down the drain for good.

As such, the actress is pushing a sequel to their hit movie, Edward Scissorhands.
“Winona is not at all happy where Johnny has found himself lately and the treatment he’s gotten. After being raked over the coals for her shoplifting arrest nearly 20 years ago, she knows what he’s going through,” the source said.
“Winona fought her way back and now she’s starring in a hugely popular TV show and making more money than she did in her movie heyday. She wants the same for Johnny. And unlike a lot of people in his life, her caring for him doesn’t come with strings attached,” the source said.

The insider also said that Ryder’s passion for Edward Scissorhands and its themes is what got the movie going. The actress also played a huge part in turning the movie into a huge hit.
With this, the tabloid insisted that the Stranger Things star would do a sequel with Depp in a heartbeat.
“She thinks they deserve another shot at the strange little universe they created 30 years ago,” the source said.
While it is true that Ryder has always been fond of Depp, there is no indication that she’s trying to push for Edward Scissorhands 2.

Last year, the actress showed her support for Depp after Amber Heard accused him of physically, emotionally, verbally, and psychologically abusing her.
In her statement, Ryder said that she can’t believe Heard’s accusations because Depp was never abusive towards her during the span of their relationship.
“The idea that he is an incredibly violent person is the farthest thing from the Johnny I knew and loved. I cannot wrap my head around these accusations. And he was never, never violent towards me. He was never, never abusive at all towards me. He has never been violent or abusive towards anybody I have seen.
“I do not want to call anyone a liar but from my experience of Johnny, it is impossible to believe that such horrific allegations are true. I find it extremely upsetting knowing him as I do,” Winona Ryder said.
