Wayne Lineker’s pals break silence on his sudden ‘engagement’ to Chloe Ferry

Wayne Lineker and Chloe Ferry are not about to get hitched, his friends have confirmed.

Celebs Go Dating romance hunters Wayne, 58, and Chloe, 23, left fans baffled after posting an engagement snap online.

They grew close during filming of Celebs Go Dating: The Mansion at the end of 2020 and were seen cosying up for a string of pics with the Geordie Shore babe showing off a giant rock on her finger.

Not everyone was sold that their love was for real.

Now pals of Wayne – the brother of football great Gary – have confirmed that they are not engaged and the pair were just pulling our legs.

A pal explained to The Sun: “Wayne is a real joker and this is exactly his kind of humour.

“He’s told people it was just a wind up over text. He and Chloe are definitely not engaged.

“They got on really well when they met on Celebs Go Dating and will be mates for life.”

The MTV wild child beamed as she held up her hand to show off her huge ring in pics uploaded to Wayne’s official Instagram account.

Wrapping his arm around her, silver fox Wayne smiled for the camera.

In a second shot, the duo turn to face each other with Chloe tenderly placing her hands on the nightclub tycoon’s face.

He added: “Love you Chloe,” before adding a ring emoji and a winking face.

The beauty replied to the pictures and wrote: “Love you” before sharing a screenshot of the post onto her own account.

Many fans didn’t know what to think.

One of his followers replied: “Wait, what?”

Another added: “Have I missed something?”

A third said: “Would kind of love this to be true even if it’s creepy.”

Fellow Celeb Go Dating star Tom Zanetti even appeared to get in on the act writing: “Thank you for giving me honour of the best man, really can’t wait for the special day.”
