Australian tennis player Samantha Stosur was born on 30 March 1984 in Australia. Sam Stosur was born in the house of an Australian professional tennis player.
She is the daughter of Diane and Tony. Samantha stosur had been a good and hardworking girl since her childhood. Because she had got her initial training from her grandfather. At the age of six, her family and business was destroyed by the flood and they moved to Adelaide. At the age of eight she started playing tennis. At start Sam Stosurplayed tennis with her brother Daniel at local court. Later on Samantha stosur parents advised her to take regular classes in Helensvale State High School and Gaven State School.
Samantha stosur is known amongst the world’s most powerful serve and also in doubles too.Sam Stosurdid her first competition at the age of 13, for this she went to World Youth Cup Jakarta Indonesia. And at the age of 14 SamStosur got admission in (QAS) Queensland Academy of Sport. In 2000 she was lost in first qualifying round. At the age of 16, she joined Australian Institute of Sport. In 2001 Sam Stosur won 4 titles by wining ITF and in 2002 Sam Stosur again lost in first qualifying round.
Sam Stosur won first matches of WTA singles by reaching third round of Australia open in 2003. In 2004 Sam Stosur was successfully entered to semifinals of Gold Cost, in next week she luckily entered to 2nd round of WTA match in Hobart. Later on in 2004 she won matches from opponent countries like India, Acapulco, Birmingham and Vienna. At the end of 2004 Sam Stosur entered the final matches of double with ElsCallens in Quebec City.
In 2005 Sam Stosur won the 7th WTA doubles title with her partner Lisa Raymond from America. Sam Stosur also won the Kremlin Cup and the WTA Tour Championships. She was ratedas no. 46 in singles and no. 2 in doubles. In 2006 Sam Stosur was teamed up with Todd Reid and represented Australia. She won all matches in singles. After that Sam Stosur was ranked at no. 30 and no. 29. In 2007, She was partner with Raymond and won against Tokyo, Indian Wells, Miami and German Open in Berlin in doubles.
In 2008, Sam Stosurlost in the first round of singles and Raymond and Stosur were runners-up at the women’s doubles event. And at the end of year Sam Stosur was ranked 156 position and no. 14 in doubles. Sam Stosur was very successful in 2009 by doubles, so after that she decides to pay attention in singles. At the end of year Sam Stosur won the title of world no. 10 best player, and she is the only lady who holds that title. In 2011 she was ranked no. 5 and later on ranked no. 4. But unluckily due to losing matches she was again ranked to no. 10. In 2012 she successfully regained to ranked no. 5.
Besides playing tennis Samantha stosur enjoy spending time on beach and doing swing. She said that “after spending a long time away from home, I just miss one thing. And that is swimming in sea.”
