Michelle Wie can be taken as the ideal woman athletes. Michelle Wie is one of the woman athletes who gained fame in a very young age. This woman athlete is a famous American professional golf player. She plays on LPGA. Michelle Wie name can be found in time magazine article “one of 100 people who shape our world at age 10”. She was the youngest woman golf player who qualified for LPGA.

Michelle Wie was born in Hawaii in Oct 11 1989. Michelle Wie is the daughter of a professor Byung-wook SWie who taught transportation management at University of Hawaii. Michelle Wie has adopted her Golf skills from her mother who was the champion of amateur golf championship in 1985. Michelle Wie parents emigrated from Korea. As this woman athlete parents were Korean and she was living in United States she had dual nationality one of Republic of Korea and other of US. It is rule of Republic of Korea that after age of 21 a person cannot have a dual citizenship so Michelle Wie opted for US citizenship.

Michelle Wie started playing golf at an exceptionally young age of 4. Her skills increased by time and at the age of 10 this woman athlete became the first youngest player ever to qualify for the Women’s U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. This record was maintained by Michelle Wie for 8 years after that Allisen Corpuz qualified that championship when she was 5 months younger then Michelle Wie at the time of record. After a year has passed Michelle Wie made her name in both Hawaii State Women’s Stroke Play Championship and the Jennie K. Wilson Women’s Invitational by winning.

Michelle Wie young achievements are countless. Till she turned 16 she had won number of small championships and also made some records. Before turning 16 she publicized that she is becoming professional and signed contracts with Nike and Sony. At this very young age she signed that contract for 10 billion dollars per year.

There is a downfall of every celebrity and woman athletes. Michelle Wie in her first professional championship which was in 2005 named LPGA Samsung world Championship was disqualified because she signed an inappropriate scoreboard.In Rolex world Golf ranking Michelle was ranked at 3rd position. After some games she won she rose to 2nd place. But number of games played by Michelle Wie was very less because of which her ranking went down to 7th position.

There is still a long way to go for Michelle Wie. By all her winning and records at such a young age in future it will not be a surprise to see her as the number 1 golf player of the world.
