Laura Robson, being the third child to the family of Andrew and Kathy. Belongs to quite a strong background where her father is an oil executive with Royal Dutch Shell and mother a sports coach.Although born in Australia, the family moved to Singapore when she was 18 months old and then finally settled in United Kingdom when Laura Robson was six year old.

Her parents tell that Laura Robson started playing tennis since the age of seven. They encouraged this and got her enrolled in a junior tennis academy when she was seven. From here onwards, this hardworking tennis lover began her journey of sports. She changed several of her coaches and then finally in 2007 Laura Robson participated in the first ITF tour, where she made it to the quarterfinals. Laura Robson also made it to the quarterfinal of the other two tournaments and won the first tournament of her life in October 2007. Laura Robson reached the final of three tournaments in 2008 but was later eliminated. However, in the same month she participated in the tournament at the orange bowl, where she had to retire due to medical reasons. Laura Robson suffered from a stomach sprain. Nevertheless, the end of the year she was shortlisted for the BBC young spots personality of the year.

As soon as Laura Robson recovered from the injury, she joined the 2009 Australian open junior tournament where she came second. In the semifinals, she played against NOpawan Lertcheeewakarn whom she defeated and reached the finals. However, Laura Robson stood third in this tournament after being defeated by Ksenia Pervak.In 2009 August, Laura Robson received a wild card into the 2009 Us open tournament where she defeated Stephanie Foretz of France and the Aniko Kapros of Hungary. In the final round unfortunately she lost to Eva Hrdinova in the third set.

In the same year in November, Laura Robson beat Yuliya Beygelzimer in the first round at ITF competition. Later defeated another player named Tetyana Arefyeva.She made it to the second round but in the quarterfinalsshe lost to Vitalia Diatchenko.

IN 2012, Guangzhou Women’s open; Laura Robson became the first ever British women to make it to WTA main tour final. After this success, Laura Robson was named as the newcomer of the year 2012 of WTA. Laura Robson is one phenomenal player whose doubles tour rank at 18 March 2013 were 278.This was not enough, the amazing player won a silver medal playing with Andy Murray in the mixed doubles at the 2012 London Olympics.
