Emily Gold, a 17-year-old cheerleader from California, tragically died in an apparent suicide just weeks after performing with her high school cheerleading squad on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, according to TMZ. Her body was discovered under an overpass in Rancho Cucamonga late Friday night, authorities confirmed, and they are treating the incident as a suicide.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Gold’s body had been run over multiple times before it was recovered, including by at least one vehicle that did not stop. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

Gold’s death comes just a month after her cheerleading troupe from Los Osos High School wowed judges during their performance in the America’s Got Talent quarterfinals. The team earned high praise from the show’s judges, including Simon Cowell, who gave them a rare standing ovation following their audition in May.

In a heartfelt tribute, Gold’s brother, Alex, took to Instagram to express his grief. “The times we spent together won’t ever be enough,” he wrote. “Half my heart is gone without you… Rest in heaven Emily Gold because it will always be your world.”

The news of Gold’s passing has devastated her community, with friends, family members, and fans coming together to support the Gold family during this incredibly difficult time. A GoFundMe page created in her honor has already raised over $26,000 to help with funeral expenses and other needs.

“As a community, let’s come together and support the Gold family in this difficult time,” wrote Jeanette Fierro, the organizer of the fundraiser. “Please know this money will go directly to the family to support them and help with expenses.”

Emily Gold’s sudden death has left many in shock, especially after the joy and pride she and her teammates brought to the national stage. Her loss is a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness, particularly for young people navigating the pressures of life.
