Police have released new surveillance images of the suspects involved in the tragic killing of Johnny Wactor, a 37-year-old actor known for his role in “General Hospital.” Wactor was fatally shot in Los Angeles in May while confronting three individuals attempting to steal his car’s catalyic converter, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The newly released images show the three suspects and the vehicle they used to flee the scene. The police are seeking public assistance in identifying these individuals. Notably, the suspect believed to have shot Wactor has distinctive tattoos above the left eye and on the right cheek.
The three suspects escaped in a stolen black Infiniti Q50 Sedan. Authorities hope that the public can help identify the suspects through the released images and descriptions.
Wactor had just finished his bartending shift when he encountered the thieves. According to family and friends, he bravely stepped in front of a female co-worker to protect her. “They had a mask on, and they pulled out a gun,” Wactor’s friend, Colin Flynn, told ABC News. “And from what I understand, Johnny literally stood in between himself and his colleague. And the shooter just pulled the trigger and ran away.”
Wactor’s mother, Scarlett Wactor, expressed her grief in a statement to ABC News, calling her son “a beautiful soul.” She described him as a kind, loving son and brother who lived life to the fullest. “He set goals and went after them,” she said. “There is a very large hole in our hearts and lives.”
Wactor portrayed a recurring character on “General Hospital” from 2020 to 2022. His acting credits also include appearances in “Criminal Minds,” “Siberia,” and “Westworld.” In a heartfelt statement on the official Instagram account for “General Hospital,” the show paid tribute to Wactor, saying, “The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Johnny Wactor’s untimely passing. He was truly one of a kind and a pleasure to work with each and every day. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones during this difficult time.”
Wactor’s manager also reflected on the loss, describing the actor as “a kind soul, a talented actor and an inspiration to those around him.” He praised Wactor’s professionalism, enthusiasm, and love for his craft, which made him a joy to work with. “He pursued his dreams and achieved them, all the while remaining a good human being caring for others,” he said. “I am proud to say I was Johnny’s manager and friend. He will always be cherished in my memory.”
