Meghan Markle ‘suicidal’ as senior royal, distraught Duchess tells Oprah

Meghan Markle says she “didn’t want to be alive anymore” during her time as a senior royal.

ITV will show Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with US TV host Oprah Winfrey in full on Monday night on ITV Hub, Courtesy of Harpo Productions/CBS.

The Duchess of Sussex revealed she had suicidal thoughts and said: “I just didn’t want to be alive any more”.

She also said that she made the admission so that she could give people hope that “life is still worth living”.

During the show, Meghan also told Oprah that Kate Middleton had made her cry, while Harry explained that Prince Charles has stopped taking his calls.

And the duo further revealed that they will be having a baby girl.

The Duchess of Sussex was asked about a claim she had made the Duchess of Cambridge cry.

But Meghan hit back, saying the “reverse happened” and that Kate made her cry.

Meghan said she did not want to be “disparaging to anyone” and claimed Kate apologised with flowers and a note “to take accountability”.

Before the show was aired, Prince William and Prince Charles were reportedly left “saddened” by the couple’s decision to be interviewed by Oprah.

A source told DailyMirror: “The overriding feeling throughout this whole sorry saga is one where many people, especially the Prince of Wales and Duke of Cambridge, have been left immensely saddened.

“There is a distinct feeling inside the camp there must have been a better way to solve the issues by coming together, rather than the nuclear decision that has resulted in everything being discussed so publicly and without reason.

“When all is said and done, no one is likely to come off smelling of roses.”

Another source added: “The family do feel Meghan and Harry were given a lot of support, but of course questions will be raised as to what else could have been done to smooth the transition for them.
