Recently Meghan Markle just removed her original name from her son Archie’s birthday certificate. After that critics are bashing on her, why she does this kind of act.
The Duchess of Sussex, though her spokesperson, released a statement on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, to set the record straight and said that the name change was made because of the orders coming from Buckingham Palace.
The spokesperson said that Meghan nor her husband Prince Harry did not ask to change the details in Archie’s birth certificate but they had to follow the directives of the Queen’s office.
Records showed that Archie’s birth certificate, which was released days after he came to the world in May 2019, had his mother’s name listed as “Rachel Meghan, Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Sussex.”
However, The Sun uncovered a document dated Jan. 21, 2021, showing that Meghan’s name was effectively changed to reflect Archie’s mother as “Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Sussex.”
Meghan’s spokesperson also said that the report from the U.K. tabloid was “laughable if not offensive.” The Sussex pair’s spokesperson also called on the press to focus on other issues of the world.
They refused The Sun’s request for comment but Finding Freedom author Omid Scobie shared Meghan’s statement on Twitter. In that same Twitter post, royal fans discussed why the Palace insisted on the name change and one commenter has an interesting theory.
Twitter user @book-choices said that this move gives the Crown custody of the Sussex child should Harry and Meghan divorce. Allegedly, “The Duchess of Sussex” title technically belongs to the Crown and if their marriage fails, Meghan could be stripped of this title, including her right to her own child.
Meanwhile, a report from New Idea stated that Meghan is making sure that her son will become prepared and well-studied on all matters regarding his royal family background, should the unthinkable happens and he becomes the heir to the throne. Archie is the seventh in line after his father, Prince Harry.
