Kim Kardashian recently opened up about the challenges of parenting without her former husband, Kanye West, who has been away in Japan with his current wife, Bianca Censori, for 57 days, on the November 12 episode of the “iHeart What The Winkler?” podcast, Kim spoke candidly about the unique struggles of parenting solo, admitting it hasn’t been easy.
“I think you and I’ve mostly connected on parenting,” Kim shared with the podcast host, touching on their shared understanding of raising kids. She further elaborated on the isolation that sometimes accompanies parenting, despite the presence of support systems. “And judgment, and feeling like sometimes you’re in this alone, even though we have great support systems and we have people around us,” the 44-year-old explained.
Though she’s surrounded by resources and help, Kim expressed that the experience of solo parenting comes with distinct emotional and physical demands. She described her nights as often chaotic, saying, “Sometimes in the middle of the night when they’re all sleeping in your bed kicking you and crying and waking up—it’s not something that I talk about a lot because I feel like there is always a lot of judgment or people always will jump to the, ‘Oh, but you have the resources to have nannies and to have help.’”
Despite the support, Kim emphasized that it still feels like she’s “raising four kids by myself.” This sentiment is reinforced by her busy morning routines, which she describes as balancing acts between her children’s various needs. “I even carpool this morning. Everyone wants to leave at like different times or wants different stuff. And I feel like I’m at like a pit stop of a race car driver,” she shared with a laugh, capturing the hectic energy that comes with being a hands-on mom.
In the interview, Kim also spoke about a recent incident involving her son, Saint, who shared a post promoting his Fortnite account on her Instagram, sparking online backlash. The incident highlighted Kim’s evolving approach to discipline as a solo parent. While she’s generally lenient with her kids, she’s learning the importance of setting boundaries. “If I don’t do this now and fight through the tears, as uncomfortable as that is, then they are always going to get their way,” Kim explained, acknowledging the emotional struggle of enforcing discipline. “The lesson won’t be learned.”
Through these reflections, Kim illustrated the reality of solo parenting, despite her celebrity status and resources, shedding light on the universal challenges of raising kids in a world that can often be quick to judge. Her insights offer a candid view into the balancing act of parenting, discipline, and personal resilience amidst the demands of family life.
