Jenna Bush Hager was left in disbelief when she discovered that her cohost, Hoda Kotb, recently hosted a barbecue without inviting her. The funny moment unfolded during the Tuesday, August 20, episode of Today With Hoda & Jenna, where the duo discussed how 2024 has become the “year of the dinner party.”
As the conversation turned to Hoda’s social life, she casually mentioned, “I don’t think, except I have had a barbecue at my house. I don’t think I’ve actually had a dinner party.” This revelation caught Jenna completely off guard. With a stunned expression, Jenna pressed Hoda for more details, clearly surprised that she hadn’t been included.
“I don’t have a big table, I only have five seats at my table. I only have a round table,” Hoda, 60, explained, trying to justify the situation. But Jenna, 42, still appeared confused. “Don’t look at me with those sad eyes,” Hoda joked in response to Jenna’s bewilderment.
Jenna, determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, playfully called out to the camera crew, asking if any of them had been invited to the elusive barbecue. “Hey Talia, were you invited to her barbecue? No? Hey Gavin, were you invited to the barbecue? Yeah Sean, what about you? No?” she asked as Hoda burst into laughter beside her.
Currently, Hoda is in the process of moving from her NYC apartment to a new home in the suburbs with her two daughters, Haley and Hope, whom she shares with ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman. She recently explained her decision to relocate in an interview with People on August 12, saying, “I want my kids to feel grass on their feet, and play in the yard, and ride bikes down the street, and run up and down the stairs.” She described her new house as the perfect place for her daughters to “blossom into beautiful, independent, strong women.”
Hoda has also referred to this move as her “repotting phase.” She likened the experience to transferring a plant into a larger pot, saying, “It’s like my roots need a bigger pot… it just grows bigger and stronger… But in the end, it’s going to be exactly what we need.”
In addition to her big move, Hoda also recently opened up about her dating life. During an episode of The Jamie Kern Lima Show, she revealed that she had decided to stop seeing the mystery man she had gone on three dates with, explaining that she’s looking for “more kind of simplicity” in her life right now. Despite the relationship being “tabled for now,” Hoda described the man as “extremely handsome” and hinted that her journey is still unfolding.
