While it’s always wise to let bygones be bygones, Prince Charles isn’t one to forgive at ease. As per royal insiders, the Prince of Wales is still livid at the accusations hurled at his family by younger son Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Oprah Winfrey’s show in March. So much so, Charles is not too keen on bringing his younger son back into the royal inner circle.
“Charles is still fuming about Harry throwing shade at him and the royal family in the big interview and won’t let it drop,” revealed a royal expert on a podcast. “But to be honest, Harry didn’t go running back to Charles begging for forgiveness either. He still hasn’t forgiven his father for his lack of effort and support after he and Meghan decided to move. The reason Harry went back to the U.K. was to see the queen and to pay his respects to Prince Philip. That’s about as far as it goes,” Christina Garibaldi said.
The same was evidenced in Harry’s return to the UK in April for grandpa Prince Philip’s funeral. Credible sources have suggested that the Duke of Sussex was greeted with an icy reception from extended relatives. What’s more, even the “peace talks” with Charles and brother Prince William did little to mend family ties.
Given how William continues to be aghast by his younger brother and wife Meghan Markle’s racism allegations, it was clear that he didn’t want to have to do anything with Harry. The two brothers didn’t walk beside each other during the funeral service either. Kate Middleton reportedly broke the ice between the brothers, who were seen speaking amicably to each other after the procession was over.
Speculations ran amok that Harry would be extending his UK stay to attend his grandma, Queen Elizabeth’s 95th birthday. But, turns out, things didn’t go as per popular assumptions as Harry was back in Montecito on Tuesday—just a day before the Queen’s birthday.
Harry, who has maintained that he has been financially cut off from The Firm, also revealed that his father barely picks his calls anymore. Grapevine has it that Charles believes Harry doesn’t deserve access to the privileges that royals are entitled to, given his decision in the recent past.
Harry and Meghan are currently making inroads into the showbiz industry, and have already signed mega deals with streaming giants like Netflix and Spotify. Harry had once stated that signing on the projects wasn’t on his mind until they had no option but to fend for themselves after being stripped of allowances by Charles.
