Halle Berry has rightfully earned her reputation as a Hollywood action star, having endured numerous on-set injuries throughout her illustrious career. While promoting her upcoming Netflix spy comedy The Union with co-star Mark Wahlberg, the 57-year-old Oscar-winning actress opened up about the physical challenges she has faced in the line of duty.
“I’ve been knocked out three times,” Berry revealed, offering a glimpse into the toll that her commitment to her roles has taken. But that’s just the beginning of her long list of injuries.
Berry went on to share more of her battle scars: “I’ve had an arm broken, broke ribs twice — two ribs one time, three ribs another time.” Her injuries didn’t stop there, as she also disclosed that she has broken her tailbone, two toes, and even a finger. With a playful nod to her resilient spirit, she held up her middle finger to demonstrate the injury.
Berry’s dedication to her craft is evident in the intense stunts she has performed over the years. One such stunt involved holding her breath underwater for over two minutes while filming Dark Tide in 2012, a challenge she vividly remembers. “It felt like death was imminent,” she recalled.
Playing the role of Storm in the X-Men series also tested Berry’s endurance, requiring her to be suspended on wires for extended periods. Reflecting on the experience, she quipped, “It actually felt like the guy had gone to lunch.”
In addition to her on-set injuries, Berry has acquired an impressive array of martial arts skills, including jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, kickboxing, and taekwondo. These skills not only showcase her commitment to her roles but also underline her status as a formidable action star.
Halle Berry’s career is a testament to her resilience and dedication, as she continues to push the boundaries of what she can achieve on screen, despite the physical challenges she has faced along the way.
